Red States

I have seen a lot of folks asking which red states can we win.
I was playing around with the SC primary numbers and Bob Love was asking me for the numbers in the general as well, so I went and got them.

I got all the numbers except the 2008 General numbers from the SC state elections department.
For the 2008 General election numbers I tried several predictions.
The mean of 3 prior elections, The avg of 3 prior elections, and a worse case number. In the end I charted the avg of the 3 previous years. (as it was the middle of the three methods)

So for the Dems the avg gain from primary to General election was 300%. That is on average 3 times more votes in General than Primary.  For the Reps it was 306% or slightly more then the Dems primary numbers. So ok here it is:

So it is possible to win South Carolina!
